Art/Poetry & Survivor Pages
Anne's
Garden - A Survivor's Healing Place
Anne initially created this beautifully serene
website to post her poetry and writings and have others read
them. Then she felt she needed to offer more and added
sections about the most common issues facing survivors. She also
has a section called Survivor Voices where she encourages others
to tell their stories for she feels that it is an important part of
healing. This site is exceptionally well done. Haunting
Hands
This website tells of my own story of surviving
incest and rape - painted on the abstract canvas of poetry and
photography. It is intense and raw in places so
survivors and sensitive viewers are strongly cautioned. Some of
the material may be triggering and/or disturbing.

Dancing in the Darkness
Scarlet, a survivor of rape herself, offers her website as a resource
for survivors of sexual abuse, their loved ones and friends.
She encourages survivors to speak out, share their stories and
support one another. The web design is enchanting and breathtakingly
beautiful. Her resources are
extensive and comprehensive. This is one of the best survivors
site I
have come by thus far. Highly recommended!
Inscriptions of
Hope
This story delves into the mind of a child as she grows into womanhood,
as she learns to deal with sexual abuse at the hands of her Father. .
.but more importantly this story is about courage and preseverance . .
.to find others out there . . .who haven't yet allowed the demon/demons
to escape.

Through Poetry (

by Marie Waldrep
Janet Marie Waldrep began writing
from her heart at the early age of
11. As a victim of incest and childhood sexual assault, she found
writing poems helped to ease the pain and facilitate her healing and
recovery process. As such, she felt compelled to compile this
collection of her own poems. Marie was awarded the Editor’s Choice
Award in January 2004 for outstanding achievement in poetry by
poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry for her poem “Still
I Cry.” She has created a web site called The Mighty Phoenix with
information to help promote awareness and healing of all sexual abuse.
Ordering information can be obtained directly through the
publishers website. Haunting

Male on Male Rape : The Hidden Toll of Stigma and Shame
by Michael Scarce
_
The rape crisis movement is more than twenty-five years old, yet there
are few resources available to support the survivor of male on
male rape in his recovery and few materials to guide those with the
responsibility for providing him with services. Written from the
perspective of a rape survivor and advocate in the movement to end
sexual assault, Michael Scarce's Male on Male Rape: The Hidden
Toll of Stigma and Shame is long overdue. . . . Michael Scarce takes us
on an uncharted and unfamiliar road, with much respect and
commitment to the journey. Scarce is at his best as the rape crisis
counselor, helping us understand our feelings and navigating
resources. The book shines its brightest as a guide for rape survivors
and helping professionals.
